“#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.”

This event is an international day of giving! Inspired by Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving worldwide; and is the official start to the charitable season. Many see the holidays as a chance to do good and give back; #GivingTuesday serves as the launch for end of year generosity. Due to social media, this movement has picked up momentum. Mark your calendars, #GivingTuesday is December 1st, 2020!

This year will be our third year participating in a #GivingTuesday campaign. With the hardships that 2020 has brought, we need a sense of community now more than ever. #GivingTuesday is a chance to rally around a cause and unite in our generosity for the youth of Kansas City. While we have remained closed to overnight camping experiences our work in the community has not stopped. This summer we launched our “Rotary Cares” program, in an attempt to lessen the loss of summer camp for our camper families. We provided funds for food, virtual camp activities, chrome books, social skills classes, and more. With fundraisers like #GivingTuesday, we are able to continue working for the youth we serve. Whether in person or virtual, we will remain dedicated to the kids that need us most and are hopeful that we will come back even stronger next year.

Kick start this holiday season with a charitable donation to the Rotary Youth Camp, and give the gift of a camping experience to a child in your community today! We take pride in having established a camp where the experience goes above and beyond expectation. It costs about $250 for a five-day camping experience at the Rotary Youth Camp for one camper. This includes our summer meal program, full use of our facilities, our state of the art accessible pool, and so much more. We know first hand the life-changing effects going to camp has on a child. A donation during #GivingTuesday allows us to continue serving the community for many years to come. Your donation gives kids the opportunity to go to camp.

We would be nothing without generous community members like you. It takes a community to ensure successful operations each year.  Nearly a century of cherished memories, transformative experiences, and children’s joy radiate from these campgrounds. We can not wait, with the help of you and #GivingTuesday, to return next year to giving kids a truly life-changing camping experience.
