Rotary Cares Assistance Program
The organizations that host camps with us used the funds donated to them, through Rotary Cares, to further serve the families and youth that typically attend our camp each summer. Virtual camp supplies were purchased, social skills classes and teletherapy sessions sponsored, chrome books were given to campers who needed them, hygiene products were donated to families in need, and food pantries were stocked. We are so proud to be able to continue to support those who need us and find new ways to connect with our campers and user organizations.

The Truman Heartland Community Foundation
This summer we were honored to be one of the 2020 recipients of a Truman Heartland Community Foundation grant. This grant funded, in part, our virtual food service throughout the summer. Additional funding was also given from the Youth Advisory Council Endowment Fund.
While we typically serve three hot meals a day to every camper throughout their summer sessions, this summer looked a little different. Seeing a continued need for access to healthy food from our campers and their families, The “Rotary Cares,” we donated to food pantries run by the organizations we serve; ensuring they were stocked with fresh food and household products. Many of our organizations operate their own food pantries, examples include the Indian Center of Kansas City and Family Resource Center of Missouri. We also were able to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables, and dairy products to include in the virtual camp boxes that were packed on our grounds. Camp Rise KC and Girls Can Camp are two of the organizations that received fresh food items as part of our modified summer program.
